Since Etsy seems to be down…
For the first time in a while I felt a bit excited about something I was going to list on Etsy…and Etsy has been down for the last five hours. I can’t get it to load at ALL, let alone log on. So I’m going to have to forgo listing today unless it comes back up really soon.
So instead I’ll show you guys. I’ve got a matching hairstick/earring pair (sold separately of course) that I call ‘Orbit’. I have been thinking of something like this for ages and just never got around to it. But now I’ve done it, and I LOVE them…and I love that I can make them again in different colours. The style is something different, for me…I don’t know what to call it. There’s something vaguely industrial about them…and surreal? Or possibly space-age? Industrial Fantasy? Well, you tell me! Here, look:

I found your blog today by googling to try to find out what is going on with etsy today. I actually haven’t been able to get the site to load since noon Pacific time yesterday! It’s driving me nuts because I’m getting convos I can’t respond to. Harumpf. In any case, your earrings and matching hairsticks are out of this world and I think the name, Orbit, is perfect since they are space age industrial. Maybe you can call the hairsticks Orbit and the earrings Orbital?

Pacific time…so it’s not a local problem them (I’m GMT -5 in Ontario, Canada…same time zone as New York.)
I know I used Etsy yesterday after that time, because I added some typewriter key earrings and necklace to my favourites list in the afternoon
But from VERY early this morning it was out, and I think last night, too.
Weird.
I usually just name the hairstick…then name the earrings the same thing, with ‘earrings’ added on, so it’s obvious that they were made to match. That’s what I’ve done so far, anyway, with ones like White Tuxedo and Kunoichi.
Anyway, I’m glad you like them, thank you for commenting!

I love the earrings!! It’s simple but stylish. The silver rings are especially intriguing.
I can’t say that I enjoy the hairsticks as much. The black paint seems too simple for such eccentric beads, but maybe it looks better in person?

It’s not paint…that’s the way those bone sticks come…dyed black.
I like it plain like that though…actually I feel it NEEDS to be plain because if it wasn’t, the stick would be gaudy, given the unusual ‘busy-ness’ of the topper/danger…plus you see so little of these shorter bone sticks once it’s actually in the hair…they’re only 4.5 inches (stick portion, just the bone) and usually 2 or 3 inches of it is hidden within the hair, sometimes even more than that, depending on the style it’s being used for.
Thanks for your opinion
No stick is universally liked, I find. Ever. (The same with all things, though.) As long as SOME people like these sticks, they are worth stocking…and so far most people seem to find them really ‘neat’.
It’s when basically everyone dislikes something that I start thinking ‘hmmm, maybe it wasn’t the best idea…’

Hi! I just found your blog after searching some answers to the same problem as yours. Yes, I did have the same problem…I wasn’t able to load Etsy on my computer, so I had to go out and to surf at a net cafe. Anyways, some people seems to be having the same problem, and not just with Etsy but on other secure sites too. I found this link
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080628082507AA5KBnh
Go check it out and you might find a solution to some of the suggestions there. It could be your firewall settings, a Malware virus, or random DNS (which I know nothing about). As for me, I tried all the suggestions but to no avail.
So I contacted my ISP. They called me and tutored me on fixing my DNS….alas, it still didn’t work.
They then suggested that I use a proxy server….and good Lord how it worked! Hehe! I have Etsy again! (…and I’m checking your Etsy shop right, nice earrings!)
You might want to give it a try….go to http://www.proxy.org and try some proxy servers from their list. You just type in http://www.etsy.com then cross your fingers. I found this on their list http://www.halfduplexmedia.com and it might work for you, too!
Hope this helps!!!!
Have a good day!!!

Jara: Thank you very much! I actually managed to fix my access this morning on my own by manually changing the DNS, so that I picked the specific IPs rather than letting the computer use a default. Worked instantly! Happy me
I’ll be posting Orbit (earrings and stick) tomorrow, I think.
Thanks very much for taking so much time to give all this useful information! I really appreciate it, it was very kind of you ![]()
