The Far Grove

Apple Blossom

I was intending to clean up today, particularly because it is too windy to go biking.  (It’s not a great replacement but it’s important to get SOME physical activity even on cold, windy days.)  So I took half of a half-strength (regular ones are 200mg but mine are only 100mg) caffeine pill.  (I have a medical condition that keeps me in a more or less constant state of fatigue, though the fatigue does fluctuate from very mild to debilitating.)  I have very little caffeine in my diet because I ‘quit’ all pop except for special indulgence and I don’t drink coffee at ALL.  (Ewww!)  And caffeine seems to be the only thing that works…even perscription drugs for fatigue do diddly-squat.

By the way, before anyone decides I need to be scolded about taking caffeine in pill form, please know that a single cup of drip coffee has anywhere from 100 to 180 mg, on average, so even if I took one whole caffeine pill per day, I’d be getting less than a person who drinks one cup of coffee per day.  I don’t think I’ve had a single day in my life where I’ve consumed more than 200mg.

So, on with the story.  I took the half pill, but what REALLY charged me up was the news that the book I’m dying for will be arriving in the mail today. :D  I’ve run around cleaning off the floor and tables and so on, and in the midst of it I even made the topper and dangle for a new stick!  I still have to paint the stick portion and adhere everything together but I can show you the end part.  The stick portion will be a medium green, about the same as the leaves on the cloisonne square.  (Isn’t it great?  I wish I’d had two and I would have made them into topper sticks.)

It’s prettier in person…the colours look a bit greyed out and flat in the picture.  Oh, if I don’t do so next time, remind me that I want to show you guys Dragon of the North, a new cobalt-blue cloisonne strand stick pair. :)
So, before my book comes (it’ll probably arrive just after lunch) I want to finish cleaning my workspace and desk and so on, so I’d better get going.  YAY, BOOK!  Sooo much more effective than even caffeine…

krista your site is beautiful. I’d love to get hold of the template - feel free to give me a heads up where you got it from or did you have it designed just for your site. I’m new to the world of blogging and I’m thoroughly enjoying discovery sites such as yours. In regards to your fatigue - in Australia we have a bush food called Kakadu Juice - absolutely natural and overflowing with goodness. Only available in Australia and New Zealand at the moment but coming to the United States probably next year. Feel free to have a look at my website and let me know if you are interested in my sending you an email when we start distributing it next year. I have 3 children, work full-time and sleep very little - courtesy of too much surfing ;) and am thankful to have a pick-me-up in the form of a natural superfood - so much more powerful and better for you than the powder rich supplements. Any how, I have used your RSS and look forward to your posts. Keep up the beauty!

This site was designed for me by a professional designer, Chris Murphy, who very luckily happens to be my best friend’s husband. :) But you CAN get the template, actually, as I believe he used some basic stuff from Wordpress and created his own design. He opened that to the public and used it to create this site, which was modified to my needs. You can contact him and find out where to get the basic template at his personal site, http://www.farfromfearless.com

Thanks for the compliments :) As for the herbal stuff…I take GOBS of herbs, so supplements and herbal medicine is definitely something I’m pretty comfortable with. However my fatigue is a direct side-effect of having multiple sclerosis, so it’s hard to say if an herbal supplement would work or not, as I don’t even know how the fatigue is connected. If it is connected to the fact that the sheathe around my brain is damaged, then there is no way for herbs to help. But if it’s not, then who knows?

Haha, surfing. It looks so awesome, but I could NEVER do it. For one, even the possibility of sharks makes my guts quiver. For two, my sense of balance is permanently damaged. :) But I wish I could see someone do it in person, some time. I don’t live in an area where surfing is possible, though…no waves!
