The Far Grove

Which should I really be more excited about, I wonder…

The Far Grove has been busy today, due to a friend who has something of a following at her blog mentioning the shop.  6 hearts in one day and 4 items sold…I definitely don’t put it down to coincidence.  So, thanks very much, Res.  I really appreciate it.

Also since I’ve checked Etsy a few times today and realized that my ‘items for sale’ number had gone down more than could be accounted for by current sales, I suddenly discovered that two of my items had expired.  This is a good thing!  I can relist them now, and since that gives me a few extra days to not worry about making new sticks, I can put it out of my mind and stop procrastinating on my hair appliques…which I must admit I privately call ‘floaters’, as inelegant as it sounds.  But I’m really happy to think that I may soon be able to offer hair decorations for people with even VERY short hair (such as I myself often sport).

I am making the first set (five leaves, embellished) for myself so I can test them out; I SLEPT in them…right ON them…for two hours the other day…and they didn’t BUDGE.  So so far, so good.  And they are utterly weightless, though we’ll see how much heavier it makes them to add beads and things.

I hope I can have pictures of them for you in a few days.

I’ve also ordered new boxes for shipping, and am really hopeful…this may enable me to ship additional sticks for free…perhaps even without raising the initial shipping cost at all.  AND they’re somewhat adjustable, which means I should be able to use them to ship the flower sticks as well, though I’ll have to put them in a different shipping category as far as pricing goes (the width will put them over the limits of Light Package shipping…the maximum is only 20 mm…less than an inch.)  Strange as it may sound, shipping has been the most complicated and stressful of all my concerns with the shop.  It’s hard to get shipping that is both safe (the postal service seems to get rougher every year…I swear sometimes they just jump up and down on the mail for fun) AND inexpensive.   So I am really looking forward to getting these new boxes, even though they’re more expensive and a wee bit heavier.  Here’s hoping!
