The Far Grove

Sometimes the names are the trickiest part…

I realized recently that I didn’t have many natural (not dyed) bone sticks in my shop a little while ago, so I decided to make some more pairs on ivory coloured bone, and an interesting design happened.  I used cylindrical shell beads that are *identical* in colour to the bone, and square Celestial crystal beads (INCREDIBLY sparkly, it’s hard to get a photograph without any weird rays crossing it, they catch the light so wildly) in pink.  That’s all…nothing else.  The result was that the stick portion looks like it doesn’t HAVE any beads on it, that somehow there was crystal slices inset into the bone stick.  Of course, that is just the initial impression…if you get a good look, you quickly realize that the top portions of ‘bone’ are actually beads.  Still, it’s a very neat effect, I think.

And the result is so simple that you could wear 3 to 5 of these hairsticks for a super fancy ‘do, such as a for a wedding, without it being heavy or overdone.  See for yourself…here is Blushing Bride:

I think I’ll do a pair in blue, too.  For some reason they just really appeal to me…probably the idea of wearing 3 or more hairsticks at once without it being overkill.
