Satisfaction for sale…

It is very unlike me to miss posting two days in a row, and if you noticed that, I’m sorry.  It’s  been a little…different, here, lately.  But I don’t think there are any religiously regular followers of TFG blog at this time so it is a probably a case of no harm, no foul. :)

I REALLY want to write a big post about my Etsy purchasing history so I can tell you guys what items I have purchased that have exceeded my expectations to the point that I either AM or would really LIKE to be a regular repeat customer.  But I have a feeling that my still-in-the-mail packages from You Stink Soap and Gudonya will have a big impact, there, so I have to put it off a little, until I get them.

Or…I could cover them separately, later, in their own category.  Yeah!  Let’s do that. ;)

Alright, then…one thing I was especially happy with were my ‘pop can’ jewellery purchases from Vintage Nouveau.  The Pepsi pop can heart is bigger than you might think just from the picture, and is VERY vibrant and cute and noticeable once you have it on.  Also, the pop bottle earrings (which I haven’t shown here) seem to attract even more attention, since their ‘recycled’ nature is especially obvious, them being made simply out of bottle caps.  Every time I’ve worn these items, I’ve gotten comments.  I don’t know how to explain it, but these are just FUN to wear.  And they’re recycled so that’s good, too…all in all they have an enjoyable ‘modern art’ feel to them…and they’re so inexpensive!  (This necklace was $8…and bottle-cap earrings are $6.) Pop-can/etc jewellery is available from more than one seller on Etsy and the prices stay competitive.

Another seller I was very pleased with was Madison Craft Studio, who makes inexpensive, practically indestructible pendants in the $4-6 range that you can even buy in bulk.  If you celebrate holidays such as Xmas (which I do not, actually, but I have my substitutes) this is a great buyer to check out, as you can buy ten pendants, all different, for about $30-55 and check off the entire female portion of your list of coworkers and distant cousins and so on.  All you have to do is add a length of suede rope or ribbon and they have a complete necklace…and they come round, square and rectangular in a million different colours and patterns.  Here is a particularly popular ‘print’ type that I purchased for myself, as well as examples of abstracts, rectangular pendants, and circular Japanese-paper-covered pendants:

And of course there is a shop I’ve already purchased about 10 items from…Pretty in Posies, my very favourite ‘clippie’ seller.  I LOVE clippies.  They are the *perfect* accessory for short hair, especially cute on young-looking women or those with pixie-like features/hair.  They instantly double your cuteness.  Seriously. :)   Here’s a pair that I have…

And one last item that I probably shouldn’t mention because I haven’t actually RECEIVED it yet, but it’s too good to pass up.  I bought three packages of handmade paper from Rag Queen…they should be arriving at any time, and I expect to be very happy to have them and will probably order again once I’ve used up some of what I’ve already ordered.  Sellers of homemade paper still don’t seem to be very abundant on Etsy, so I was thrilled to stumble across Rag Queen’s shop.  Here’s one of the mixed lots of paper I purchased from her:

It’s too bad that her items are all rather poorly photographed, all being in bad lighting conditions (not enough light so they appear darker than they really are) but that’s my only complaint with her shop.  I expect she’ll get the hang of the photographing soon enough anyway. :)  And ooh but she has some really luscious paper in stock right now…

Is this handmade paper too coarse to write on?…

Well, I haven’t *gotten* the paper yet, so I don’t know. But I doubt it’s too coarse to write on. Just use a rollerball type pen, which is the smoothest, smoother than a standard ballpoint, gel pen, or felt pen. I expect it’d be a bit coarse for a free-flow sort of pen…a fountain pen or the like. This is because of the mesh texture rather than because of the paper itself.
