The Far Grove

I’m going to smell like a slightly floral fruit market.

Getting this place totally cleaned up again was great; I got 5 pairs of all-natural sticks (one with a bead drop dangle) done yesterday.  It just feels so much easier to do things when you don’t have to clear a spot to do them in, first, or if you don’t have to look for the supplies you need.

I had an amazing idea for earrings all out of the blue…like a bike wheel, made of wire and beads.  Should be pretty tricky to do right but I’ll likely attempt it anyway.

Since it’s the beginning of the month, I made some purchases I really wanted.  Etsy shopping is so great…I’ve never gotten anything there that I have been disappointed in, once I receive it.  And it’s so easy to find affordable things, even though they’re handmade!  By rights, handmade items should always be MUCH more expensive than mass-produced stuff sold by huge corporations that have massive purchasing power…yet you can always find a few items of any time that compare to the prices you’d pay at a regular store.  Sometimes this is fair, but I often feel that artists on Etsy underprice their goods because they aren’t confident in their skills/the value of their products.  Seriously…if you make a pair of earrings that take you an hour and cost you $2 to make, you’re only making $8 an hour, and that is a wage that won’t keep you above the poverty line.  Plus when you add all the time it takes to photograph your products, edit the photographs, list your items, and package and ship them, it’ll probably turn out that it took you at LEAST half an hour more, which would mean that really you’re only making $5 an hour.

But I do love finding great deals on Etsy.  I’ve never bought anything that looked like it was way cheaper than it ought to be…I’ve gotten those pendants for $4 and so on, but they’re made in such a way that a person can turn out at least 10 of them in an hour.  That’s why I don’t feel bad about the (usually) affordable prices of bath and beauty products on Etsy…because they are all made in batches.  I wish jewellery could be made in batches. :)

Anyway, I know entries aren’t interesting unless they have pictures.  So have a look at two of the items I bought from Gudonya…handmade shampoo and conditioner that have glorious scent descriptions.  I really need a new shampoo/conditioner set, as my current one, while WONDERFUL for my hair, is hell on my sensitive scalp.

The above is Gudonya’s Strawberry Fields ‘Salty Dawg’ shampoo.  The scent is described thus:  “A juicy, ripe berry, with perfumed essence of pears and raspberries. Creamy, juicy and wonderful!”  Sounds good enough to eat.  Foody scents tend to be all my head can handle…and I love them, too.  Especially fruit. So I continued to a slightly more complex but still fruity scent for the conditioner.  See Guydonya’s ‘Intense’ conditioner in the ‘So Delicious’ scent, below:

The ‘So Delicious’ Scent is this: “The fresh, sweet, crisp apple dominates the whole surprisingly wholesome, yet provocatively tempting, composition. Fresh and flirty top notes of Florida grapefruit, fresh cucumber and deep magnolia first abound. Sexy innocence takes the show with a voluptuously pleasing trio of white muguet, rose and violet entwined with delightful apple and tuberose. Warm woods and white amber wrap it all into such a tidy arrangement, even the mafia couldn’t refuse!”

I hope they get here quick, along with the other items and the You Stink Soap products as well. :D
