Neptune and Translation

I’m in a small hurry, but I want to show you guys Neptune…and yesterday I made another pair of sticks that I think I’ll call Translation.  I have to do my daily listing…and I have a few things to do before that, so really…I have to hurry.  Please just enjoy these pictures for today, then.  […]

Thank goodness for Spring Plum.

I think I’ve just made a pair of hairsticks that I’m really happy with; they’re black and white and teal-blue, with short (about 1.25 inches, I’d say, maybe 1.5) dangles.  I’d like to show them to you but I JUST made them so they haven’t cured yet, and I don’t dare touch them.  I can’t […]

Sometimes the names are the trickiest part…

I realized recently that I didn’t have many natural (not dyed) bone sticks in my shop a little while ago, so I decided to make some more pairs on ivory coloured bone, and an interesting design happened.  I used cylindrical shell beads that are *identical* in colour to the bone, and square Celestial crystal beads […]

Comparing them to eggs, even the heaviest doesn’t seem very heavy…

Found a new way to convey the actual weight of my  hairsticks in my listing descriptions.  I now weigh them  before listing, say what weight they are in grams, and add that a large egg weighs (approximately) 70 grams, so people can compare the weight of the stick to something they are used to, something […]

Mmm, freshly cut grass…

I’ll be brief, today.  I got my You Stink Soap order, which I promised to ‘review’.  It turned out great…I got 3 solid perfumes, 3 lip glosses, and 1 natural deodorant in the ‘Stinky Hippie’ scent.  Stinky Hippie smells like a freshly mown lawn…it’s just WONDERFUL, though quite unisex.
I’m happy with everything.  The lip gloss […]

Autumn Sea

I done it.  Autumn Sea is complete, and I really like the contents.  The toppers contain apple coral, mosaic shell, red lip shell heishi, natural shell heishi, and whole seashells of a type I cannot name.  (Because I do not know the name.)
Everything in this set is natural…no colouring at all has been done to […]

New naturals

I’ve decided; I’m not in a rush.  The shop can develop at its own pace, and so can this blog.  When I have something to post, I’ll post, and otherwise I will leave it alone. It’s impossible to make worthwhile entries when I am not busy with shop stuff…making and so on.
To make it easier, […]

If it’s a choice between smelling like strawberries or reducing the appearance of cellulite…

It’s impossible right now to update this blog regularly because I haven’t even at atom of creative energy at this time, so I have nothing to tell.  I do have an ‘industrial’ necklace idea, and I also want to finish that crocheted lace choker and earring set, and I also have an idea for a […]

Oh no, it’s March Moodiness

It’s very hard to update the shop blog when I’m not at all feeling like making hairsticks or other jewellery, as I can’t talk about shopping or Etsy stuff all the time and when I don’t feel like making things, I don’t feel like talking about making things, either.
I think it’s unfortunate that ‘making things’ […]

Portal and Spring Rain

There aren’t many shades of blue that look good with olive green.  But then again, I really dislike olive green, so that may not be a fair statement.  Olive green and sky blue, for example?  Putrid.
However, I did manage to find a darker shade of blue that goes pretty nicely with this olive-ish shade of […]

Golden Meliadese

Krista Hubert maintains both The Far Grove shop and The Far Grove Blog. She's older than she looks, loves fantasy, and wants to make real life a little more like a fairytale. Making exotic fantasy jewellery is one of the ways she attempts to do so.
