Super short dangles

If you’re looking for contest details, they are here.

I’ve been working on some cute hairsticks lately with the idea that some people might like to have dangles, but without them being very long or obtrusive. Just a little bit of dangly sparkle or jiggle, but not the whole shamoly. So yesterday I made some wood and unakite sticks with shortened strand dangles (about an inch shorter than usual) and I like them a lot. Take a peek…

And today I made some purple, silver and black sticks that technically are charm style, but have only a tiny little cluster of glass beads (with silver caps) as a dangle. So about 1/2″ worth of dangling. I think they’re adorable, and very eye-catching. Problem is…they are VERY hard to photograph, as the dangles can’t lie flat in anything approaching their natural shape, and it’s hard to photograph them actually dangling as there is bad lighting and camera shake involved in such an attempt. But I used a grove in my rock background to allow the end to dangle. This is how it looks like if you look down on it rather than seeing it from the front.

And here’s what the little dangles look like, more or less…

I really like them. Now I just have to see if anyone else does.

I LOVE THEM!!!!

Your new work is getting totally creative and very different from your past stuff… I’m actually liking almost everything that you’re putting out there.

*remembers that this is not LJ, so *licking* might look a little strange on here… LOL*

I like the shiny sparkling dangles best… so that purple one looks really tasty. Those would make good earrings too.. lots of dangle-goodness.

Elle: I’d like to think that my work was *always* creative, even if it wasn’t your style (our sense of style rarely agrees anyway). Thanks. :) Yeah, this isn’t a social site so the personal stuff does look a bit out of place, here.

Fuchschen: I made earrings yesterday in that style, more or less…clusters of blue and silver on a chain. Looked a little more like grapes when I was half way through so then I just went with it and now I call them ‘ice wine’. :)

Very cute. I love the colors in the first set. Those beads look really lovely with the hint of green and the rose color. <3

I very much love the ice wine combination. I would gladly wear those. :)

Sarah: Thanks…unakite looks kind of boring to me all on its own but somehow it was really cute when paired with the wood :)

Shveta: Ice wine is the name of the blue and silver earrings I made…do you mean those, or the still nameless purple/silver/black hairsticks in this entry? You’d probably be okay with either, come to think of it. :) In any case, thanks :) I really like the purple baby-sized-dangle sticks. I think they’re going to be called something like Lavendar Twinkle. (You can get the sticks to tinkle slightly if you give them a good shake, from the metal caps on the beads.)

I’m with Sarah on the unakite sticks! The stone color combined with the wood gives the piece a nice organic feel. :)
