The Storque

Is it just me, or did reading The Storque (Etsy’s online newspaper) get to be a boring chore pretty quickly?

At first I LIKED reading The Storque, but now I find it’s all the same things over and over with the names and pictures changed. Etsy featured shopper (which is never an actual Etsy account, usually it’s some ’star’ shopper/internet celebrity, it seems, which really disconnects me from the article from the beginning), Etsy success stories, how to market your shop, etc, etc, etc. The articles always seem like they’re just the same as last week’s articles or yesterday’s articles.

And why aren’t featured items ever ones I like? Why so much focus on ‘weird’ and gruesome things, like anatomical heart earrings or prints of little girls with trees growing out of their heads?  I know some people like it but not everyone does so why so much focus on the ‘weird’?  Weird and unique aren’t always the same thing.

To me The Storque reads like it is the same few people writing every article…so few of the articles seem special. Nothing stands out now that I’ve gotten familiar with The Storque, and keeping up with the articles has become a chore. I often just go to Bloglines, click the Storque link, and wipe it of articles without reading them, and that’s a shame, because there IS valuable information buried in the 73 articles you may find if you haven’t checked the feed in a week or so. But it’s just too boring to wade through it all to get to the interesting and/or relevant stuff.

I had fun while the Storque was just starting, but to me they already seem to be in a rut.

No post tomorrow, as it will be Sunday. (TFG normally posts 5 times a week, and always skips Sundays.) Also, take a look at my newest item in the shop, Piano Duet! I really like it. :)
