Contest
The Far Grove is holding a contest/draw. Here are the details:
The Rules:
For every entry you comment on at The Far Grove from February 12 through February 25, 2008, you will be entered ONCE into a random draw for the prizes listed below. You may comment on entries posted during those dates AS WELL AS past entries, if you wish. ONLY COMMENTS MADE DURING THE DATES LISTED ABOVE will count toward the draw. Thus, the more entries you comment on, the more chances you’ll have in the draw. However, multiple comments on one entry only count once, so please don’t spam in hopes of increasing your chances.
In order to enter, you MUST fill out the ‘website’ field when commenting, so that you can be contacted. This is easily done by filling in the address of your Etsy shop/account, a Livejournal account, or any blogging account. (For example, http://yourusernamehere.etsy.com or http://yourusernamehere.livejournal.com) IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A WEBSITE where you can be contacted, then please leave your email address IN your comment. If I can’t contact you, you can’t win.
Summed up as simply as possible:
- You will get one entry into the draw for each blog entry you comment on between the specified dates.
- Make sure you’ve entered your website when commenting, or add your email address to the comment itself.
- Random draw will be done on February 26th, 2008. You will be contacted and allowed to choose your prize from those listed below.
Prizes:
TFG is offering four prize choices (the last is colour-customizable) but if you want something specific, you may ask when you are contacted. If your request is easy to fill, it will be filled! If it isn’t, then you must choose from the listed items. It’s that simple.
Hummer (painted wooden dangle stick with beautiful large cloisonne hummingbird):
China Bells (Set of spiral-carved black bone strand sticks with cloisonne bells on dangles…please note that the blue bell is imperfect, as the enamel went outside the lines. This is NOT noticeable when worn but quite noticeable if you are just inspecting them. Unfortunately this was the only blue bell in supply. These sticks are matching but NOT identical…they were made to compliment each other but have slight colour variations to add extra interest.) :
Softly (Set of topper sticks…pink opal and pink chalk turquoise on spiral-carved bone sticks.)
Jewelled Vine Earrings (In your choice of colour…blue, purple, white, green, gold or silver. All jewelled vine earrings vary slightly as they are wound by hand and the accent wire and ‘jewels’ can be changed. If you have something specific in mind, you can make a request):

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE THE EARRINGS!!
And I’m in the middle of moving and am putting my money towards that… I really really really really really wanna win those earrings though!!
*drool*
How come you didn’t put the “eiffel tower” earrings up? They’re so gorgeous, I thought that they would be a definite and spectacular lure to your shop!
Krista commented on February 6, 2008, 1:18 pm:
I just haven’t gotten around to it yet, as I have a lot of things on hand ready to list already. Plus I only ’sorta’ like them so I’m kind of iffy about listing.
Glad you like the earrings ![]()
Lavanya commented on February 10, 2008, 2:25 am:
especially the last two colors(my husband just saw the earrings and he liked the last two too- the purple and blue ones..:))
Krista commented on February 10, 2008, 4:41 pm:
Lavanya: glad you like them! They’re pretty fun to make, though making them both the same shape can be a bit tricky at times. (I have to form both earrings at the same time to make sure they’re as identical as possible.)

Rumi: I was sure you’d like China Bells, at least. Awesome, glad you have you here! ![]()

I’d definitely like a chance at the Curly-Qs, so I’ll be commenting.
Your work really does get better and better. Anyone who happens upon this page–TheFarGrove offers high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces for ridiculously inexpensive prices. Buy them before someone else does.

I thought I wouldn’t comment seeing as I already love what you make! But i thought I would anyway!..I have to tell you before I forget that trailblazer is my current favourite hairstick-I love it! (even more than the old dusk i think..:))..

Thanks
My looped-strand sticks are pretty popular with all my friends…they have really good balance. And they’re neat-looking.
I’m proudest of that design as no one else currently does it and the idea was ALLLLL mine. Not a speck of inspiration from elsewhere. None of my designs are BASED on other designs, but sometimes things I’ve seen elsewhere influence my work. Not so with those. ![]()

Hi.
Btw, not sure if you know, but…multiple comments on one entry only count once toward the draw. Just so you know. ![]()

What a great contest Krista! I’m relatively new to Etsy and just discovered your shop but I am positively IN LOVE with your work — I’d love to win! The whole reason I joined Etsy in the first place was in search of unique hairtoys!
I have to say that your Amazon hairsticks are especially fabulous — they’re eye-catching and exotic and positively awesome! I look at them every time I log on and contemplate when I’ll have enough spare cash to have them for my own.
By any chance, were you thinking of cosplays when you made them? They totally remind me of something you’d see at an anime convention.
In any case, kudos for your good work!
Krista commented on February 23, 2008, 9:06 am:
Thank you!
You’re lucky you look good in long hair and have the patience for it…I have neither of those qualifications. Even people who are adamantly in favour of long hair on women admit that I look WAY better with short hair, which is kind of funny, all things considered. I’m kind of pixie-looking, and long hair just makes me look plain. I’m one of those girls who is more ‘cute’ than anything else, so I need a sharp, perky hairstyle. And LOW MAINTENANCE because I am a hair moron who can’t style worth beans.
I have friends who…well, not cosplay, but go to anime conventions. I’ve never been, and I wasn’t actually thinking of them when making Amazon. I was thinking more of elves and other fantasy elements. I don’t exist inside reality all that much.
It’s Andrea’s leather leaves that really make Amazon gorgeous, so I can only claim half the praise, at best. ![]()

I’m really liking that hummingbird stick! It reminds me of spring. I see quite a few hummingbirds buzzing about
Krista commented on March 12, 2008, 7:35 am:
Haha, we don’t get hummingbirds in spring, here. Well, not really…not until the very end. We still have four feet of snow on the ground and there will be more before the month is over…we can’t expect to see hummingbirds for another two months at least, maybe three.
I refuse to think about that, as winter is my most hated season and I can’t dwell on it. ![]()
