TOO natural?

So, I made a pair of bone sticks with stone toppers the other day.  Dyed bone with large pink opal chunks and (dyed) pink fossil beads.  Then I thought that some of my natural stone would look really earthy when paired with wooden sticks, and though that is a very simple look, it would really appeal to folks who love the super-natural look.  I KNOW these people do exist.  I look at my ’super-natural’ sticks of nothing more than stone and wood and think they might not be flashy enough, but not everyone has the same tastes as me.  For some, these are probably more desirable than fancy cloisonne or flashy glass or even classic metals.

Here are two SuperNatural (I just have to make the capitals as calling them super natural looks like a mistake and ’supernatural’ has the wrong meaning.  Perhaps I should just call them ‘organic’?  But that sounds too hippie and political for me!) topper sticks.  Very simple.  Too simple?  I think it depends on your taste.

Of course, the stones are too big to make dangles of…I’d have to use round stone beads to make strand sticks, and stone is hard to make dangle-sticks of because it is so heavy.  So in the all-natural style it would be mostly topper sticks with a few strand sticks.  I’m not sure what I think of that.

I’d love to see the natural bone ones. I love the nature themes. I have a bit of bling-girl in me as well, but who says we have to have the same tastes everyday! The two pair of hair sticks I already own; one set are pink frosted lucite with pink rhinestones, and the other are natural carved wood with a couple of tiny topaz-looking beads.

“Softly” in the contest entry are natural (undyed, unpainted) bone.

I can’t wear hairsticks. Isn’t that nuts? But I can’t, I have SHORT hair, and love my hair ultra short like this, and it’s all I can do to manage ‘clippies’. :D But I love that other people DO have long hair…keeps the romance alive. I just have to pixie-looking a face for long hair…it gets overwhelmed.

HA! I totally just called your unakite dangle sticks “organic” in another post. It’s definitely a word with some hippie connotations, but that could be appealing to your target customers for sticks like these. ;) The turquoise colored toppers are lovely!

That’s African Turquoise, which is of course actually a type of jasper. And yes, they do seem to appeal to a particular type of person.

Organic is a word I sort of object to in some ways because it has developed a particular image. I always associate it with extremists, now, whereas all things ‘organic’ used to appeal to me more in a romantic, old fashioned sort of way. So I avoid using that word because it comes with too much of an image, for me, but I’m not bothered by other people using it. :)
